About EquipReturns

The part of offboarding nobody actually has time for.

EquipReturns manages recovery logistics for company-owned IT equipment, with optional sanitization, storage, redeployment, and disposal when your team needs them.

What we do

When an employee leaves, we handle what happens to their laptop, monitor, and accessories from that point forward.

01

Trigger

A return kicks off automatically from your HR platform or manually from our dashboard, so nobody has to remember to start it.

02

Recovery

The employee gets a return method that fits the situation: a QR label for a retail drop-off, a device-matched box kit shipped to their door, or a scheduled courier pickup, depending on what you choose.

03

Receive

We receive and verify the shipment, record its condition, and maintain the chain-of-custody history.

04

Next step

If selected, we complete data wiping, storage, redeployment, or certified e-waste disposal as separately priced services.

Every step is logged — who touched the device, when, and what happened to it — so if IT, finance, or an auditor asks where a specific asset is six months later, there's an actual record instead of a guess.

Why we built it this way

Decisions we made early, so you don't have to relitigate them.

Offboarding equipment is a security problem wearing a logistics costume.

Most companies treat a departing employee's laptop as a shipping errand. It's also a data-security event: a device that had access to company systems is sitting outside company control. We built documented chain-of-custody tracking into every return and offer sanitization as an explicit optional service.

One return method doesn't fit every situation.

A standard laptop from a cooperative employee doesn't need the same handling as an executive's loaded workstation, or someone who's already gone unresponsive. That's why we offer three return methods instead of one — Standard Drop-Off for the straightforward cases, a Full-Service Box Kit when the hardware needs real protection in transit, and Doorstep Courier Pickup when speed or white-glove handling matters more than cost. You pick the method per situation instead of paying for the same experience every time.

Predictable cost matters as much as low cost.

Reverse logistics pricing is usually opaque — a quote that turns into a freight invoice once the details come in. We priced every return method as a flat, published rate instead, so you know the cost before you start a request, not after.

Guaranteed capacity is worth paying for.

Some teams offboard predictably and don't mind paying per return as it happens. Others need reserved processing capacity when a wave of layoffs or a reorg hits. Our subscription option adds priority scheduling and a discount on every return, so teams operating at volume aren't paying the same way as a company doing one offboarding a quarter.

The device's life doesn't end at “returned.”

A recovered laptop still has value if it's redeployed to the next hire, or a real disposal obligation if it's not. We built storage, redeployment, and certified e-waste disposal as explicit parts of the pipeline instead of leaving you to figure out the next step once a device lands back in your hands.

Where we're headed

We're focused on making equipment recovery something you set up once and stop thinking about — not another manual process that quietly falls on whoever has the least time for it. Everything we build, from HRIS triggers to chain-of-custody logging, is aimed at that.
